Link between bodybuilding & Teeth

 

Bodybuilding has become globally popular in the pursuit of an idealized muscular physique by using a regime of weight training and a tailored nutrition program .To achieve such a physique, bodybuilders undertake a high level of training , food and supplements .
In this regard there are some risks for their teeth that bodybuilders should consider :

• Bodybuilders depends on their professionalism Frequently consuming meal and this requires frequently cleaning teeth as well ( which some may not do so ). Some bodybuilders eat upto 10 times a day ! at the same time chewing a lot can cause attrition of teeth .

• Using gainers containing sugar can increase teeth caries dramatically, specially who are using gainers in powder form which can stick to teeth . how ever using protein whey is totally safe for teeth ,because they don’t have sugar in their components .

• Once bacteria from the dental caries gets into the blood, it weakens the heart and leads to diseases like endocarditis or myocarditis and if you get one of these diseases you should know that strong effort in the gym it is not recommended. So bodybuilding and building big muscles are out of the question because your heart gets very stimulated during training with very heavy weights thus leading to its failure

• Bodybuilders clenching their teeth and jaws when they are lifting , more weight means more push to teeth . this can wear the teeth and damage temporo-mandibular joint . so many of pro bodybuilders now use mouth guard. researches shows that mouth guard increases the power of lifters also.
